Premetto che la presente ha un carattere affatto privato, e non implica in modo alcuno la ditta ch’io rappresento - quindi nessun fatto di preesistenza e di conseguenza. Ricevo la s. 1 corr. Avverto che il mio consulente Avv. Dina , sta ora fuori Milano , e sarà di ritorno in Ottobre: nel caso quindi di qualsiasi osservazione e modificazione alle proposte da noi fatte, io nulla accetto: e così si dovrà aspettare il ritorno dell’ Avv. Dina . Tanto per di lei norma. Quanto alla mia impressione particolare le dirò che queste difficoltà da parte sua, posso interpretarle nel senso ch’Ella non è ben sicuro dell’esito di tale prova: poiché ove in cuor suo avesse intimo, profondo convincimento della somma di produttività della tachigrafia, nulla avrebbe ad eccepire. A me pare la cosa la più semplice, la più chiara, la più razionale: la tachigrafia dà risultati che la rendono preferibile economicamente e materialmente all’incisione?... e allora cosa fatta capo ha - ella fintanto che si produce Una pagina, fintanto che questa costa 8, o 9, o 10 lire!!... suvvia… è quistione di lana caprina, l’abbarbicarsi a questo o quel pretesto.

Mi scusi, eg^o Sig.^r Tessaro, se le scrivo così…. ma oramai sono all’ultimo limite della pazienza e della fiducia!... le migliaja e le decine di migliaja di lire si accumulano in modo spaventoso!... ed io, la figura del minchione, per bacco, non la voglio far più. Tutto ciò senza voler menomare la piena di lei buona fede nelle tachigrafia e le speranze che vi ripone… provi che sono fondate! Ho il diritto di dire questo, dopo tante prove di piena fiducia ch’io le ho dato quando tutti erano increduli.

Ecco quanto colla mia abituale franchezza voleva dirle ed intanto mi pregio di salutarla distint. e ripetermi

Be it immediately understood that this letter is of a private nature and in no way implicates the company I represent – therefore it lacks any previous context or official consequence. I have received your letter of the 1^st of this month. Given that my consultant Avv. Dina is out of town until October, I am unable to accept any observation or change to the proposals we have made, and we must wait for the return of Avv. Dina . Of this you are hereby duly informed. As far as my personal impression is concerned, I will tell you that these difficulties on your part leave me with the sensation that you are not entirely confident of the outcome of this trial, because if in your heart you were deeply, profoundly convinced of how much the tachygraph could actually produce you would have nothing to object. To me it could not be more simple, more clear, more reasonable: Does the tachygraph give results that make it preferable economically and materially to engraving?... Then the matter is settled – as long as you produce One page, as long as it costs 8, or 9, or 10 lire!!... Come on now, let’s be honest… there’s no use nitpicking, of clinging to one excuse or another.

Excuse me, Sig. Tessaro, if I write to you this way… but at this point my patience and confidence have reached their limit!... The thousands and tens of thousands of lire are piling up in an alarming manner!... and by Jove, I have no intention of continuing to look like a chump. All this without wanting to damage the confidence and hope you have placed in the tachygraph… just prove that your feelings are justified! I have the right to say this, after the abundant proof I have given you of my own complete confidence when everyone else was skeptical.
