It is with immense displeasure that I return to what I wrote you on 1 May past. Having read it, you must have understood how you cannot persist in your current position without it leading to some serious charge against the person whose absolute responsibility has been to oversee the proper operations of all braches of our administration. The facts I have myself ascertained in these last days especially, even if they do not yet allow me to identify an absolute culpability on your part, nonetheless plainly demonstrate a complete breakdown of discipline and continual disregard for the regulations in force, resulting in considerable derivative damage to me. With every passing day your position only worsens, and I certainly believe that you understand and feel just how thoroughly anomalous your position is and must want to make it stop as soon as possible. Therefore, since your employment ceases at the end of this coming July, as I notified you in advance as required, I believe I can offer you extremely useful advice by saying that it is entirely to your advantage to leave your office immediately. It is understood that I will still pay your salary for the months of both June and July. I repeat, this advice I offer is in your own interest, allowing your position to remain intact, while it would otherwise be seriously damaged if, in verifying all of the infractions that have occurred, I were to find myself faced with the unpleasant necessity of formally asking for your immediate dismissal.

By way of justification, you can submit a letter to me in which, with suitable reasons that will be easy to find, you ask to be able to leave your office right away; and this will be a future safeguard for you and for the commercial career you intend to continue, and which I cordially hope you will find as befits your capacity and experience.

Confident that, after serious and careful contemplation of what I have written, you will understand how advantageous it is to follow my advice. I can only express my regret for having to take such measures, and I offer my sincere best wishes.
