Colla procura da noi conferitale ed inviatale alcuni giorni [or] sono, crediamo averle dato la miglior prova della fiducia che abbiamo in lei, e non dubitiamo ch’Ella saprà dimostrarsi come tale fiducia trovi piena giustificazione nello zelo e nell’attività ch’Ella vorrà impiegare in favore della ns. Casa.
Non abbiamo certo bisogno di rammentarle quali sieno i desideri nostri rispetto a codesta filiale; quantunque il movimento di vendita sia rispettabile, non è peranco sufficiente a compensare il capitale impiegato; ma nutriamo fiducia che raddoppiando di attività, facendo conoscere vari rami delle nostre pubblicazioni, Ella potrà in breve avere la soddisfazione di sentirci dichiarare soddisfatti.
A meglio riconoscere la di lei nuova posizione l’avvertiamo di aver portato il di lei stipendio settimanale a 4 sterline, e l’autorizziamo di conteggiarlo fino dal 1 Gennaio del corrente anno.
Le raccomandiamo poi in particolare la buona tenuta della ns. Casa costì, ed il contegno il più decoroso e serio da parte di tutti gli impiegati e lusingandoci infine che le nostre speranze ed i nostri desiderj saranno appagati, ci pregiamo riverirla distintamente.

With the status of procurator that we have assigned and sent to you some few days ago, we believe that we have given you the best possible proof of our trust in you, and we have no doubt that you will demonstrate yourself fully worthy of this trust through the enthusiasm and energy with which you aspire to advance the interests of our Company.
Doubtless we need not remind you of what we hope for from this affiliate. Respectable as the sales figures have been, they are not yet sufficient to compensate for the capital that has been invested; but we are confident that by redoubling your marketing efforts, so that the various types of publications we offer are more widely recognized, you will soon have the pleasure of receiving word from us that we are satisfied.
In suitable recognition of your new position, we wish to inform you that we have increased your weekly stipend to 4 sterling, and we authorize you to apply this adjustment to your accounting beginning from 1 January of the current year.
May we especially recommend that our Company be well represented there, and that all of the employees display the utmost decorum and sobriety in their demeanor. Confident that our hopes and desires will be fulfilled, we extend our best wishes.
