Mi mandi invece dei brani dei giornali, giacché non credo possibile ch’Ella possa trovare il tempo per scrivere carteggi. Giacché a proposito di tempo, sono non solo dolente, ma dolentissmo doverle di nuovo osservare che codesta filiale, non spedisce più 1a nota dal 27 giugno scorso, e che detta 1a nota è arretrata di 4 mesi e ½, nientemeno! - Mi stupisce, caro Sig.r Bossetti, ch’Ella non senta tutta la responsabilità di questo fatto, e s’io non la conoscessi, se non avessi intera fiducia in lei, avrei diritto di fare le più tristi induzioni intorno ad un gerente, che tiene in tal modo l’amministrazione! - E’ un ritardo inesplicabile, e qualunque sia il lavoro della filiale, la tenuta giornaliera della copia 1a nota, non richiede molto tempo e si può e si deve sempre fare. L’arretrato di mesi 4½ impedisce all’Amministrazione centrale la compilazione del bilancio nel tempo prefisso!... Né io voglio assumere una responsabilità che non mi spetta, e pur troppo dovrò entro il mese corr/. farne rapporto nella seduta de’ miei consoci, venendone al certo gravi conseguenze per Lei!!.. Questo è un grosso dispiacere per me!... ma come può Ella riparare a questa mancanza gravissima?... quali le cause?... davvero non so raccappezzarmi, e non riconosco più in Lei quelle qualità che me lo dimostravano ottimo fra i gerenti delle ns. filiali.
La prego scrivermene subito, sperando Ella possa immediatamente rimediare a questo fatto anormale che non deve più verificarsi.

I received your esteemed letter of the 5th of this month, which I was unable to answer immediately because of urgent business. Thank you for the information you have given me: enclosed you will find Sig. Contin’s latest article to be returned to him, advising him that with the end of the 1st Semester 92 his collaboration with us will no longer continue, it having proven inconvenient for the Gazzetta to sustain such an expense.
Please send clippings from the newspapers to me instead, since I do not think it possible that you could find the time to write your own reports. Even because with regard to time, I am not just unhappy but extremely unhappy to have to call your attention again to the fact that this affiliate has not sent a cash accounts ledger since 27 June last, and that said ledger was no less than 4½ months late! – I am astonished, dear Sig. Bossetti, that you do not feel the full weight of your responsibility for this fact, and if I did not know you, if I did not trust you completely, I would have every right to draw the most unfortunate conclusions about a manager who runs his administration in this way! – It is an inexplicable delay, and no matter how much work this affiliate may have, keeping a daily copy of the cash ledger does not require much time, and it can and must always be done. These extra 4½ months of delay prevent the central Administraton from compiling the financial statement in the established time period!... Neither do I have any desire to assume a responsibility that is not mine, and unfortunately by the end of this month I must report this in the reunion with my fellow Shareholders, no doubt with serious consequences for you!!.. I find this to be enormously disappointing!... But how can you make up for this most serious shortcoming?... What caused it?... Honestly, I am at a loss to understand how this could have happened, and I no longer recognize those admirable qualities that you so convincingly demonstrated among the managers of our various affiliates.
I urge you to write to me without delay, hoping that you can immediately resolve this unfortunate problem, which must never happen again.
There is nothing more for me to add but the hope that I may soon be able to see my confidence in you fully restored.
The situation at Covent Garden is most unfortunate, but I do not believe it is possible to count on this theatre or Harris anymore. Sig.re Ravogli wrote to me, furious because they were not engaged for Aida; is this true?..
Please tell me if Tosti’s new Song promises to be as successful as hoped, and whether our solfege manuals and similar publications may become popular there.
