In response to your esteemed letters of the 17th of this month, I agree regarding everything you’ve told me about that affair!....
So no artistic engagement there – notify us in advance and you will receive a cheque for £ 5,000, which you can cash and then use brevi manu [for direct payment].
As for the articles by Petrollo, Falbo, and the rest of that crowd, we needn’t deign to respond, which would grant them more importance than they deserve.
My best wishes to you and your wife for your country vacation; I too hope to leave for my habitual retreat in Levico on the 27th, and it would be wonderful to have [the managers of] Rome, Naples, and Palermo together again to visit here as in years past.
