L’atto d’insubordinazione da Lei compiuto mi persuade della verità del fatto ch’io le accennai. Mancando ad ogni convenienza verso di me, Ella si è permesso di farsi autore di uno scandalo che non aveva ragione d’essere. Mi trovo quindi nella necessità di mantenere il rispetto e la disciplina nella mia Amministrazione, e perciò la prego a provvedersi altrove, essendo Ella dimesso colla fine del corrente.

The act of insubordination that you have committed, Sir, convinces me that the matter I mentioned to you is based on fact. With no consideration for me whatsoever, you allowed yourself to be responsible for a scandal that had no reason to exist. Finding myself forced therefore to maintain the respect and discipline of my Administration, I hereby bid you make arrangements for yourself elsewhere, given that you are dismissed as of the end of this month.
