Devo richiamare la tua attenzione sopra un fatto gravissimo che viene a toccare la responsabilità mia di Gerente la ditta suindicata: alludo cioè all’obbligo di contratto, pel quale il bilancio dev’essere presentato ai Soci entro 3 mesi dalla chiusura dell’esercizio. L’attuale Signor Dirigente la Ragioneria non ignora quest’obbligo = a mezzo tuo fu da me più volte sollecitato e richiamato: né posso ammettere come scusa valevole alcuni fatti di indole straordinaria come la formazione e l’ampliamento della nuova Società, i relativi inventari ecc. ecc. - Poiché a tale proposito io ho chiaramente e nettamente autorizzato di assumere del personale di ajuto = ma sta il fatto che il bilancio non è ancora presentato, che non se ne ha ancora notizia e che la mia responsabilità è tócca senza alcuna mia colpa. Io intendo che i patti sociali sieno osservati con scrupolosa esattezza, io intendo che in nessun ramo dell’Amministrazione a questi patti si manchi, ed appunto per quanto riflette la Ragioneria devo con vivo rammarico constatare che vi è soverchia lentezza in qualsiasi operazione, per modo che io sono autorizzato a giudicare che il funzionamento non è bene disciplinato, non è regolare e continuo come per lo passato, in cui se la longanimità di un solo proprietario poteva ciò ammettere e tollerare, questo ora non è più possibile.

Mi trovo quindi costretto mio malgrado a prendere misure radicali e valendomi delle mie facoltà, invitare a dimettersi il Sigr. Alessandro Calabi, al quale in conformità alle usanze, lascio i tre mesi di tempo per provvedere.

Mi è assai dolorosa e grave tale risoluzione, ma altrettanto dolorosa e grave l’aver dimostrato ai miei Soci quasi la mia impossibilità d’una esatta osservanza del Contratto Sociale.

I must call your attention to a serious issue that affects my responsibility as General Manager of this company: that is, I allude to the contractual obligation to present the Balance of Accounts to the Shareholders within 3 months from the closure of commercial activity. The current Director of Accounting is not unaware of this obligation; through you I have petitioned and reminded him various times; nor do I find such unusual circumstances as the formation and expansion of the new Company, the relative inventories, etc. etc. to be a valid excuse, since I had clearly and unequivocally authorized the engagement of adjunct personnel for this purpose. But the fact remains that the financial statement has not yet been presented, that there is no news of it, and that my responsibility is compromised through no fault of mine. I expect that corporate agreements are observed with scrupulous accuracy, that no branch of this administration will fail to follow these agreements; yet in the specific case of the Accounting department I must most regretfully observe that there is an excessive slowness in all phases of operation, such that I feel authorized to assert that their operations are not well disciplined, that they are not run in a regular and reliable manner as they were in the past, when the generous patience of a sole proprietor might have accepted and tolerated such shortcomings, while in the new situation this is no longer admissible.

Unfortunately I therefore find myself obliged to take radical measures and avail myself of the right to invite Sig. Alessandro Calabi to resign, allowing him the standard three months of time to make his arrangements.

Such a resolution is extremely distressing and serious for me, but it is equally distressing and serious to have shown the Shareholders how it is nearly impossible for me to maintain a strict observation of Company Policy.
