Dear Signor Strazza
(Private)
Yesterday I had a discussion with Avv. Broglio regarding the spaces in Via San Paolo . As you know, I had been informed that the terms of rental were for Nine years; but instead the relative contract I received a few days ago specifies the right to leave with three years’ advance notice. Avv. Broglio told me that he had spoken with you to find a way to provide access to some of the workrooms, hoping thereby to facilitate our entrance with a subsidiary lease. Now instead it would be important to announce your intention to rescind the contract. I mentioned this to Avv. Broglio , who understood perfectly that said rescission clause only came to my attention a few days ago. The board has not yet convened, and since this is something that reflects the absolute good faith of both parties, it seems only just that termination [of the contract] should be set at the end of the next three years. I inform you of all this so that you can have a friendly conversation about it right away with Sig. Avv. Broglio – in other words, before the board meets, so as to resolve this entire matter as necessary.
Since Sig. Gnecchi is now in Milan , one of these evenings we will get together for the opportune examination of the financial statement. Meanwhile I heartily recommend your attention to the above-mentioned affair, which is immensely important – and respectfully I remain
Yours sincerely, Giulio Ricordi
