A stimata sua d’jeri. Abbiamo inteso di fare ed abbiamo fatto una cosa delle più semplici, esprimendo soltanto lo scopo dell’esperimento.
Le nostre antecedenti lettere sono quel che sono ed è un fuor d’opera il riportare monche delle premesse. In ogni modo se si crede opportuno riferirsi alle lettere stesse, basta a tal uopo una frase del tenore seguente:
“Con riferimento alle loro rispettive lettere 17 e 19 Giugno prossimo passato, allo scopo ecc. ecc. come nella vostra scrittura, coll’aggiunta di cui sopra, di cui le mandiamo di nuovo due esemplari, restituendo i due ch’Ella ci ebbe a trasmettere colla suindicata sua[“].

In response to your letter of yesterday, it was been our intention to keep things as simple as possible, which is what we have done, expressing only the scope of the experiment.
Our earlier letters are what they are, and it would be inappropriate to extract partial premises from them. In any case, if you prefer to refer to the letters themselves, a phrase of this nature will suffice:
“With reference to your respective letters of the previous 17 and 19 June, for the scope of etc. etc. as you have written, with the addition of the above, of which we send you two new exemplars, returning the two that you sent us with your aforementioned letter[“].
