Alla On.e

CLET002007
Milan, 24 June 1892
To the Hon. Office of the Director of the Workshops
City
Contrary to what we had hoped, with the monetary crisis continuing even now in Spain, Portugal, and South America, those countries are essentially closed to the commerce of music as a result. Given that our editions are no longer requested there, we are faced with the uncomfortable necessity of reducing production proportionately. Therefore we must proceed either to dismiss some of our personnel, or to reduce their hours of work.
This latter step had already been taken other times in the past, based upon the probability that there would be an eventual reprise of work with a return to former levels of production, as in fact occurred. Hoping that this will again be the case, we invite the Office of the Director to take appropriate measures in the best possible manner.
