Dear Sirs.
A few summers ago, you were kind enough to send me about ten complimentary scores of your latest orchestral publications. I remember that I chose several from among them and performed them in England and in America.
On Tuesday last Sept 2nd whilst in Milan I visited your firm and saw there several orchestral scores that looked very interesting. I made a list of these and am writing to ask you whether you would be willing to do as you did some years ago and send me these scores gratis to look through with a view to choosing from among them for performances. If however this should not be possible, would you lend them me for a couple of weeks and I will return them to you after looking through.
The list is as follows:
“Fernando Cortez” Spontini
Sinfonia Dante G. Pacini
Buffalmacco Alberto Gasco
Serenata Medioevale Zandonai
La Notte di Platon De Sabato
Sinfonia in Mi Alfano
Suite “Cimarosiana” Malipiero
Airs et Danses Antiques Respighi
Sei Quartetti per Archi Boccherini
Suite “Les Dames de Bonne Humeure” [sic] Scarlatti - Respighi [nota manoscritta: Tommasini ed. Chester]
The last named is the Ballet which Respighi wrote for the Russian Ballet out of five Sonatas by Scarlatti.
I should be very much obliged if you would send me these works and feel sure that I shall find them of greatest interest.
Thanking you in advance
Yours faithfully
