Riserbandomi di prendere in seguito tutte quelle altre disposizioni che crederò necessarie per mettere fine agli inconvenienti che troppo sovente devo constatare nell’andamento di codeste officine, dò, intanto, gli ordini seguenti ch’Ella favorirà far immediatamente eseguire:
- Il Sigr
- Urgente altresì è l’affare
Questo è quanto è urgentissimo di fare. Ma ben altri provvedimenti si impongono e fintanto che non vi avrò efficacemente provveduto non si devono assumere impegni, salvo quelli comunissimi di stampa corrente.
- Resta assolutamente vietato fare anticipazioni in conto lavori: quando questi saranno ultimati di nostra soddisfazione, si salderanno. Non voglio avere alcun credito verso i disegnatori, cromisti ecc. ecc. Ripeto: a lavoro finito si paga.
- Non si daranno ordinazioni di disegni qualsiasi senza il visto dello scrivente
- Per l’ordine del lavoro-musica, nessuno può fare mutamenti alle disposizioni che io do, senza il previo mio assenso.
Dell’esecuzione immediata ed esatta di quanto sopra, rendo responsabili tutti i componenti la Direzione, ed intanto do formale incarico a Lei per la sorveglianza completa.
A scanso di ogni equivoco Ella vorrà pure far noto che avverandosi infrazioni ai miei disposti, sono deciso anche a ricorrerre al licenziamento.

While reserving the right to adopt at a later date all those measures that I shall deem necessary to put an end to the problems that all too often I have observed in the running of these workshops I give, in the meantime, the following orders which you are to implement immediately:
-Sig. Bolla will go immediately to the Signori Cora, to whom he will, on my behalf, give my personal apologies for the unfortunate way in which the Almanacs were produced. At the same time, he will underscore the good faith of the company, which worked diligently to ensure that the Almanacs would be perfectly produced and which has not been able to determine the reasons why the work did not turn out perfectly. In recognizing therefore that the Coras are right [to complain], we leave to them the faculty of paying whatever amount for the job they feel to be equitable.
The Dal Brun affair is equally urgent: see whether it is better to go personally to this company first, to explain the difficulties you encountered. Better then if, for this year, and without causing a rift in our good relations, we can annul the commitment for the Almanac.
This is what is extremely urgent to do. But other measures must be undertaken and until these issues are completely resolved you must not accept new commitments, except the normal everyday print jobs.
- It remains absolutely forbidden to make advance payments to collaborators: the jobs will be paid when they have been completed to our satisfaction. I do not want to advance any credit to graphic artists, color separation technicians, etc. etc. I repeat: a job will be paid when it is finished.
- You will not commission graphic projects of any kind without the approval of the undersigned.
- For job orders of music, no one may make changes to the instructions I give, without my consent.
I hold all employees of the Office of the Director responsible for the immediate and precise execution of the orders given here above, and I hereby give you the formal charge of ensuring that all this is done.
So that there may be no doubt, you will inform everyone that, should any infractions to my instructions occur, I will not hesitate to fire people.
