Dear Sirs
Your letter of June 3rd was forwarded to me here where I am spending the summer.
It is exceedingly kind of you to send me scores of several of the modern Italian works, I appreciate your courtesy very much and shall be much interested to see the works.
Your house in London sent there scores to my London address but since I had left they took them away again.
I should be much obliged, if it were possible, if you could send me this music to Cerro (address as at the top of the letter). To begin with I have so much more time in the summer to go into new music thoroughly than in the winter and secondly I am about to make my programmes [sic] for my American tour and I should very much like to put in some Italian works.
I am especially interested in Respighi whose “Fountains of Rome” I performed in London last winter, also in de Sabato [recte: de Sabata] or also in a young man called Pick Manciugalli [recte: Mangiagalli] I dont [sic] know if I spell it right). Maestro Toscanini whom I saw not long ago told me of Respighi’s “Dances Antiques” I should much like to see this score for a London concert. If the works I mention are not included in your kind gift would you perhaps lend them to me for a few days and I would return them to you.
Very many thanks again for your kind interest and courtesy.
Yours faithfully
Albert Coates
