Le spiegazioni che ella mi dà non sono affatto esaurienti – constato che a me dovevasi usare diverso trattamento che non ai Siggri Vignoli [Tognoli? Vognoli? Bognoli?] e Conte Spalletti – e che trattandosi di una serata di ripiego il prezzo fattomi pagare è esorbitante ed ingiusto. The explanations you have provided are not at all sufficient — I maintain that I should be afforded different treatment from that reserved for the Vognolis [surname unclear] and Conte Spalletti — and given that the evening is not a marquee performance, the price you demand is exorbitant and unjust. I might add that my friend Marchese Cappelli tells me you offered him a box — for a performance of "Aida" — for £50-!! And it seems to me that was quite enough.
Be advised therefore that I will no longer need the box for the inaugural performance at the Reinache, and that you may dispose of it as you wish.
