Out of a sense of delicacy and of respect we have waited until today to answer your letter in which you tendered your resignation from the position you hold in our administration, and this in the hope that you might yet change your mind. We must now, with profound regret, acknowledge your intentions, since your silence signifies the persistence of your resolve. It seems superfluous to repeat how valuable your continued presence in our Company would have been; but since in your letter you declared that you did not now wish to assume such a serious responsibility, we have been forced, in spite of what we would prefer, to act accordingly. We therefore ask you to contact our procurator
Most sincerely, G. Ricordi e C.
