My dear friend,

   The information I was able to obtain regarding Sig. Bagicalupo's new typographical process is quite negative — it seems the first Company founded in Genoa devoured 3 million francs of capital!! My advice, if you are inclined to throw money out the window, is to find a more entertaining way to do so.

   Vincenzo Lombardi is always in Florence, but I've been told that his advancing age forces him to work very little. In Milan we have many good teachers, and if you care to entrust me with both the blonde and the brunette I can find them an excellent one here.

   I do hope the next time you don't vanish from sight like a shooting star and can dedicate at least a few hours to your old friend.

Caro amico,

        Le informazioni che ho potuto ottenere sul nuovo processo tipografico del Sig.r Bagicalupo sono pessime – sembra che la prima Società fondata a Genova abbia già mangiato un capitale di 3 milioni di franchi!! Il mio consiglio, se vuole buttare dei soldi dalla finestra, è di trovare un modo più divertente di farlo.

Vincenzo Lombardi è sempre a Firenze, ma mi hanno detto che lavora molto poco a causa dell'età; a Milano abbiamo molti buoni insegnanti, e se mi vuole affidare sia la bionda che la bruna gliene troverò qui uno eccellente.

Mi auguro che la prossima volta lei non mi appaia più come una stella filante e che possa dedicare almeno qualche ora al suo vecchio amico.
