        Credo mio dovere unirle un resoconto del come venne impiegata la somma di £5000 da Lei favorita. Le regalie e mancie [sic] in teatro vennero date a nome dell’Autore, Sigr Barone Alberto : alle altre persone furono consegnate brevi manu, o con semplice biglietto di visita. I posti in teatro furono distribuiti d’accordo col Sig.r Barone Alberto : e poi coll’eg° Avv. Biagi . Perciò Ella vedrà, Ill.mo Signor Barone, come fu spesa la predetta somma, e s’intende ch’ella non deve tener conto della piccola differenza, la quale figura soltanto per esattezza di resoconto e null’altro.

        Sono lieto poterle dire che le molte rappresentazioni dell’Asrael  furono sempre fortunate: e che dietro le mie insistenze, la Sig.a Novelli , ora ristabilita, mi ha promesso d’essere fra due o tre giorni a Milano , per cantare ancora qualche sera nell’Asrael : il che sarà per l’opera un nuovo successo.

Mi spiace solo che per gli attuali impegni, l’autore non possa presenziare una di tali serate.

        E sempre pronto a’ di Lei comandi, ho l’onore di riverirla e ripetermi con ossequio e stima

   I consider it my duty to present you with the enclosed detailed accounting of how the sum of £5000 you so kindly provided was put to use. The gratuities and tips in the theatre were given in the name of the Composer, Sig. Barone Alberto ; the other individuals received them directly or with a simple calling card. Distribution of the theatre seats was determined in agreement with Sig. Barone Alberto , and then withAvv. Biagi . You can therefore see, Ill.mo Signor Barone, just how the aforesaid sum was spent, with the understanding that you need pay no attention to the small difference resulting from an exact accounting and nothing more.

   I am pleased to be able to inform you that the numerous performances of Asrael were always well received, and that thanks to my insistence Sig.ra Novelli , who is now fully recovered, has promised to return to Milan in two or three days to sing in a few more performances of Asrael , which will further add to the opera’s success.

   I am only sorry that the composer ’s present obligations will not allow him to be present for one of these evenings.

   I remain as always at your disposition, honored to pay my respects and once again humbly and respectfully declare myself
