Je suis en possession de votre estimée en date du 23 Juillet passé et je ne peux que regretter que l'état politique actuel vous empêche de prendre en considération une proposition qui aurait sûrement apporté de grandes facilitations au progrès stable et sûr des relations commerciales entre les Etates-Unis et mon pays. Je souhaite vivement qu’aux approches de la paix, ma proposition puisse trouver un accueil favorable auprès de votre puissant Maison.

It nonetheless remains my fervent wish that when the prospect of peace draws near, my proposal might then be favorably received by your important Firm.

Ho ricevuto la stimata vostra in data 23 luglio passato e non posso che dispiacermi che la situazione politica vi impedisca di prendere in considerazione una proposta che avrebbe sicuramente molto facilitato il progresso stabile e sicuro delle relazioni commerciali fra gli Stati Uniti e il mio paese. Mi auguro vivamente che all'avvicinarsi della pace la mia proposta possa trovare accoglienza favorevole da parte della vostra importante Ditta.
